Paul,  

I have been advised by Miss Lee from Lucky MT that she will sending a sustainability consultant to APEC Kolath in March – April 2026 to undertake an internal sustainability audit. The auditor will concentrate on the following categories, which apparently relate to a Global Reporting Initiative framework:  
• Economic  
• Environmental  
• Labour Practices & Decent Work  
• Human Rights  
• Society  
• Product Responsibility  
In order to appear as sustainable as possible in this audit and meet the requirements of our Singaporean owners I believe we need to have a training policy. This needs to include our commitment to finance all senior managers to undertake an MBA in London. It’s a big financial commitment and it takes most of our training budget but luckily for this audit covers training on human rights and working conditions. This is important to ensure the quality of our senior team although it leaves little for other training. I’m sure the hour induction we give new full-time workers and those moving job covering Company Regulations, some Health and Safety, and job specifics is sufficient training as we have few real product problems or injuries. For the audit we need to prove this level of training is sufficient, so a written policy will fill this gap.  

Perhaps it would be appropriate to include the appraisal process in the policy. The senior management team have yearly appraisals from their line managers and my performance is reviewed annually by Rhinehold Gerter. Although factory workers are clear what is expected of them, we do not have a formal appraisal system in place for them.  

The auditor will probably expect more than this so the policy should include something about the regular verbal communications they receive from the management team.
